Be there for a lonely friend
Last week, the Surgeon General of the United States announced that we are in a loneliness epidemic. He argues that it's a public health crisis: we know from research that loneliness is as dangerous to your health as smoking cigarettes and that it leads to premature death.
Here's one quick, science-backed way we can show up for our friends — doing our part to end the loneliness crisis, right where we are.
When you see something that makes you think of someone, share it with them.
Everyone needs to know that they matter and that people are thinking of them. This is especially true when you're lonely or isolated. If you come across an image, an article, or a video that you think a loved one would like, share it with them. It is a small thing that says: you matter to me, I care about you, I'm here for you.
