Community: Rest and rejuvenation

Each week, we gather our community’s wisdom. This week, we asked:

What do you do for rest and rejuvenation?

“To recharge, I play a cozy video game (like Stardew Valley). It’s also important for me to find some quiet time. I like listening to audiobooks/podcasts while I do chores, but I’ve found on the weekends I need to turn it all off and carve out a bit of time with fewer screens, noises, and people. Maybe I meditate or work in the yard or take a nap or just let myself feel bored for a bit.”

“Since the pandemic hit and closed my local YMCA for 18 months, I was fortunate that the Y pivoted and went to virtual exercise class options. I actually have a better ‘relaxation’ and ‘workout’ (which for me is ‘rejuvenation’) now than I did pre-pandemic. I added two early morning virtual gentle yoga sessions (best addition ever!) and three mornings of Stretch/core body weight. Plus added walking – living in Maine, it’s such a gift to walk in the trails and neighbor hoods around my home!”

“My go-tos for rest and rejuvenation are solo time in nature, yin yoga and a hot bath with calming essential oils.”

“For rest and rejuvenation, I color in an adult coloring book and listen to lofi music! I love how calming the beats are.”

“I take it very seriously. I added to my daily routine facial massages, they are unbelievable. And as I don’t have many hours of sleep during the week I have siestas during the weekend.”

“Crochet!”

“Body care, like showering, face masks, nails, drink chamomile…”

“I walk around the neighborhood and talk to the trees, feel the rain smell.”

“Disconnect from socials and do skin care.”

“Yoga,”

“Ice skating, or movement with friends. Movies and a face mask.”

“Baths are always a good idea.”

“Focusing on little happiness. A carb meal, skincare, coffee, music.”

“Epsom salt bath.”

“Play sports.”

“Nap.”

“Float.”

“Travel.”

“Reconnect with nature and read literature.”

“Just having some me time is so refreshing.”

“Writing, meditate, massages, walking.”

“Yoga and reading.”
