Community: Feeling loved

Each week, we gather our community’s wisdom. This week, we asked:

What makes you feel loved?

I feel loved when someone remembers the little things about me: whether that’s my favorite food or something I said a year ago and everything in between.

When someone makes me feel heard, seen, included or considered.

Having deep conversations and traveling with friends makes me feel loved.

When my someone does something thoughtful for me without me asking.

Someone taking the time and effort to complete something on my to do list for me makes me feel loved- especially if it’s a nice surprise!

Hugs. The ones that linger. The ones that embrace. Preferably, the ones that are skin-to-skin and heartbeat-to-heartbeat.

Noticing the little things and remembering them.

Being noticed.

When old friends call to check on me.

The small gestures, like a surprise coffee from a coworker or a new drawing from my son.

When a friend says, “This made me think of you.”

Connecting with my sister who also happens to be my best friend.

Getting real compliments as my abilities are being known.

A coffee in the morning prepared by my husband.

Someone saying, “This reminded me of you.”

Not having to ask.

Listening and truly caring instead of giving advice right away.

Quality time together.

A little something that says, “I thought of you when I saw it.”

Actually laughing at my jokes.

Being appreciated.

My husband bringing me my medicine in the morning.

Creating art and mom hugs.

Thoughtful surprises, physical affection, and presence.

Being seen/understood, validation, reassuring/comforting touch, my dog.

Feeling seen and heard. Understanding when I’m having a hard time.

When friends tell me they like spending time with me.

Hugs. All of the hugs!

When they let me rant about stuff.
