Feeling many feelings at once

In a given day, we will experience a vast range of emotions.

One 2015 study looked at the experience of daily emotions and found the top frequently experienced emotions were: 1) joy, 2) love, 3) anxiety, 4) satisfaction, and 5) alertness. Close behind were hope, sadness and amusement. Saturdays are the days where we feel the most happy emotions. The study also found that you can experience both positive and negative emotions at the same time. Anxiety and love co-occurred the most together.

It’s so easy to identify ourselves or our life with our emotions. The more we practice noticing their rise and fall, the better we can see that they’re more like the weather than anything else: ever-changing, blending together, and impermanent.
