Give yourself a green light
We all know that a red light tells us to "stop" and a green one tells us we can "go!"
As we grow up, we get used to asking for permission to do the things that we want to do. And while this mentality helps us to coexist as individuals within a society, it doesn't always serve us as we are trying to grow.
As an adult, when there's something that you want to do with your life, you might carry this mentality forward: "I must ask for permission before I start working towards what matters to me."
But no one out there is going to give you a green light. In fact, they are far more likely to give you red lights: the discouraging odds, someone's inability to see your vision as clearly as you do, or the fear within you that whispers you'll never make it.
That's why you need to learn to give yourself the green light. To say to yourself, "I'm going to go!"
The next time that you are feeling stuck — yearning to move towards your goals but feeling unsure whether or not you can — I want you to remember this. Say to yourself: "I am the one who gives green lights. This is me, giving myself the go-ahead, right here and now."
