How the past affects the present
A quick quiz for you:
How much time do you spend thinking about difficult experiences from your past? A) A lot of time B) Some time C) A bit of time D) Hardly ever
If you answered A) or B), that might indicate that there is some pain within you that needs your attention and love.
We have all gone through difficult things in our lives. Whether you find yourself ruminating on them, struggling to process your emotions, or feeling their persistent impact — it is nothing to be ashamed of.
When these events happened to you, you might have been so busy trying to survive that focusing on your pain couldn't be your priority. You probably didn't have the tools and the resources that you needed. You might have had to pretend that everything was okay. You might not have had supportive people around you to help you through it.
Once we notice this pain that lingers within us, we can start to choose how we want to address it. Today, ask yourself:
"What resources, support, or choices would help me to address the pain from my past so that I can have the future I deserve?"
