How you're treating yourself

Someone does well on a task. In response, what do you say?

To a friend: "I'm so proud of you!"
To a coworker: "That was great."
To a stranger: "Nice job!"
To yourself: "You just got lucky."

Someone makes a mistake. In response, what do you say?

To a friend: "I care about you and it will be okay."
To a coworker: "You tried your best and that's what matters most."
To a stranger: "Don't sweat it!"
To yourself: "You idiot. What kind of person does that?!"

Someone is struggling to achieve a goal. In response, what do you say?

To a friend: "I believe in you."
To a coworker: "It's hard, and I know you'll figure it out."
To a stranger: "Keep going!"
To yourself: "Just give up now. You'll never make it."

You can see the problem here. Isn't it time we change this?
