Remember your inner goodness

I know that you have been through some very painful things. And when they happened, you probably didn’t get the love and support that you needed.

As a result, you might have lost sight of your inner goodness. You started to believe that there’s something wrong with you, that you are hopelessly flawed, that you are not okay just as you are.

But please, please know: this is not the truth of who you are.

You are loving, creative, delightful, inspiring, thoughtful, beautiful, wise, curious, and full of wondrous potential.

No matter what happened to you, it does not define you. You didn't deserve that pain, and you don't deserve to live with this belief about who you are. You deserve to see just how incredible you are.

Here are three ways to help correct your self-perception:

Find people who see the real you. It could be a loved one, a therapist, a mentor, or a guide. They notice and delight in your inner goodness. As mirrors, they reflect it back to you. Look at yourself through their eyes long enough, and you'll start to see you more clearly.

Engage in practices that help you to connect with your inner goodness. Creating, meditating, moving, expressing, dreaming, or nurturing can all help you to tune in.

Be gentle and patient with yourself. Extend love to the parts of you that were hurt in the past. It takes time to build a new way of seeing yourself. Trust that, bit by bit, things are changing.

Your truest nature is one of love, peace, and goodness. When you rediscover this, and begin to embody it, so much more goodness will come into the world, stemming from this source within you.
