When there are too many thoughts in your head

When your mind feels full of thoughts, here are a few things you can do:

First, notice that you’re feeling this way and start to acknowledge your thoughts. Sometimes, just labeling it can help you get a little bit of distance from it, just enough to be able to discern what your best next step is.

Next, try writing it down. Get them out of that head and onto paper! Thoughts written down can be organized, analyzed, broken down, and clarified.

Finally, talk about them with someone you trust. Ask someone to listen to you (and consider, if accessible, getting professional support.) Share what’s going on inside of you. Let someone in. It can be a powerful method for releasing that sense of overwhelm and finding a bit more peace, as well as figuring out what to do next.
